Money Exhibition

The Money Exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum looks at the history of currencies, exploring the development of commerce and wage labour, the workings of banks and of the stock exchange. In a broader context it also analyses the influence of money on art, lifestyles and on human morality.
The exhibition features currencies, historic treasures, silverware, jewels, photographs and pictures. For adults and children.

Municipal House
Vital Art Nouveau 1900

Time: 10:00-19:00
Municipal House is the foremost Art Nouveau building in Prague. This exhibition presents late 19th century Czech and European Art Nouveau works, on loan from the Museum of Decorative Arts. Decorative art shown at the Paris Worldís Fair of 1900 will also form part of the exhibition, which totals over 400 items.

Easter Markets 2014

The Prague Easter Markets take place at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Beautifully decorated wooden huts display local handicrafts and all manner of food and drink. Stalls offer wooden toys, intricate glassware, candles, jewellery, metalware, embroidered lace, puppets, dolls in traditional costume and brightly coloured hand-painted Easter eggs. There are hot sausages and large hams on spits, along with delicious local pastries to sample, plus ice-cold Czech beer and hot wine. Markets open daily.

Prague events
Witches' Night (Paleni Carodejnic)
Date: 30 April 2014
An ancient folk festival, Witches' Night is a cross between Halloween and May Day and marks the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring. An effigy of a hag, or witch, said to resemble winter (or perhaps a historical reference to the Czech pastime of witch-hunting) is burnt on a pyre on hill tops across the country.

Prague Opera
Prague Opera, Ballet & Classical Concert listings & tickets
Dates: April 2014
Prague is famous for opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances take place in three magnificent opera houses, in stunning concert halls and in an array of beautiful historic churches. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Prague Theatre

Visit the Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience.
Black light theatre is a highly charged mix of dynamic dance, mime, singers, film, and state-of-the-art visual and sound effects.
Marionette theatre features giant puppets dressed in 18th century costumes. Shows are highly visual, so suitable for adults and children of all ages and nationalities. And as with opera and concerts, advance reservations are highly recommended.
