Situated in a prime location on Parizska - Prague's most fashionable street - the famous Pravda is a classic cosmopolitan restaurant, combining contemporary furnishings and works of art with culinary delights from around the globe.
The stunning building in which Pravda Restaurant is located dates from 1906 and is a show of over-elaborate and embellished elements including richly gilded stucco, sculptured beams, mosaics and imitation marble.
The restaurant interior is a striking mix of minimalism with neo-gothic elements. Gleaming crystal chandeliers, huge mirrors, pure white tablecloths and candle-light illuminate the architectural features, creating a distinguished neo-gothic feel. On the ceiling is a huge painting by Pedja Djakovič called, simply, Pravda (the truth).
In warmer months there is terrace dining with heaters, looking out onto Parizska.
Pravda's menu is a good balance of International cuisine, also with some fine Czech specialities to choose from. Starters range from French onion and Russian borsch soups to spring rolls, beef tartar and oysters.
For main courses, there are succulent steaks, grilled duck, chicken and pork dishes, along with some nice pasta options and a range of fish, from Chilean sea bass and yellow fin tuna to Norwegian salmon, tiger prawns and St. Jacques scallops.
To sample traditional Czech fare, opt for the popular Svíčková or the Old Czech goulash. Desserts meanwhile include a delicious forest fruits cheesecake and Tiramisu.
Such a range of cuisine requires an extensive wine list. Pravda lives up to the challenge, with an impressive choice of wines from around the world.
For entertainment Pravda has live music Wednesday to Saturday nights.
