Piano Terra at Villa Richter

Set on the hillside just below Prague Castle, Piano Terra at Villa Richter presents classic Czech food with a modern twist, in a delightful setting, with magnificent views over Prague.

Piano Terra occupies one of the floors at Villa Richter, a classicist summerhouse dating from 1836. The villa itself is located amongst the vines of one of Bohemia's oldest vineyards (AD 908).

The whole estate, including the villa, the restaurants, the vineyards and the garden terraces, have been meticulously restored. This rural ideal offers panoramic views over the Lesser Town (Malá Strana), the Vltava River and the Old Town, yet is only a few minutes walk from the metro and the Lesser Town.

Piano Terra offers well-prepared and presented dishes, ranging from traditional Czech favourites like roast duck, goulash and Svíčková beef fillet, to more International fare like a delicious Salmon steak, beef braised in wine and tender steaks.

For starters, there is Prague ham, duck liver pâté and a hearty potato soup served in bread. Desserts include various cakes and a fine apple strudel.

Around 2500 bottles of wine are stored in their 'Wine Chest', embedded in the villa's bedrock mass. This includes a selection of the finest Czech wines, plus some excellent International wines.

For the finest views, rather than sit inside the restaurant, most diners prefer to sit in the heated conservatory (open all year). Or in the warmer months, outside on the terrace.

Villa Richter has all the charm of Prague's old world. Its vineyards date from the 10th century and were said to have been tended by St. Wenceslas himself. Stroll amongst the vines before dinner, then enjoy the setting of the villa and the fine cuisine.
