Laterna Magika

Laterna Magika in Prague presents audiences with a uniquely Czech theatre experience. Its performances are a dazzling mix of film, visual effects and ballet, with colourfully dressed mime artists adding an emotional edge to the shows.

The performances are a form of black light theatre, and they continue to push the boundaries of this ever evolving art form. Talented actors and technicians ensure each new production brings with it new themes and ideas.

The Laterna Magika Theatre building is a huge glass structure located next to the National Theatre. It was built during the communist era and is a now Czech cultural monument. Indeed the building is worthy of a visit in itself.

Laterna Magika is known throughout the Czech Republic and many Czechs will want to bring their families to a show at least once. This ensures a mixed audience of Czech people and tourists.

As stories are told visually, with little or no spoken words, the shows are perfect for an international audience of both adults and children (ideally 10 years and over).
