Triton Restaurant

The famous Triton Restaurant in Prague opened in 1912. Despite difficult political times in the 20th century, the restaurant has managed to preserve its wonderful, unique setting ever since.

Triton is a beautiful cellar restaurant resembling a stalactite cave, set in the heart of Wenceslas Square.

Triton is Prague's première Art Nouveau restaurant. And set among the stalactites are statues and sculptures from Greek mythology, recounting the story of Eurydice and her husband Orpheus.

A large tropical fish tank adds colour, while intelligent lighting bounces off the 'cave' walls, creating a magical, mystical atmosphere.

The menu at Triton mixes International cuisine with good, traditional Czech fare. There are juicy, tender beef steaks and duck breasts, along with Prague goulash, roasted lamb knee and roast duck. There are also chicken and pork dishes, plus grilled salmon and trout.

The wine list offers a good selection of Czech and International wines, at all price levels.

Triton is a reasonably small, intimate restaurant. It works well as an interesting venue for business dinners or for groups of friends, and is ideal for a romantic occasion.

Triton also combines well with a trip to the Prague State Opera or Estates Theatre, both of which are only 5-10 minutes walk away.
