This exhibition at the National Museum New Building reveals the remarkable beauty and diversity of animal species on Earth, and draws attention to modern dangers that put it at risk. Displays include animals that once roamed freely in the Czech lands, such as brown bears, elk and beavers, plus African animals, and extinct animals such as a full dinosaur skeleton.

Municipal House
Blanka Matragi, fashion designer - Exhibition
Date: 01 April 2017 - 31 December 2017
Time: Daily 10:00-19:00
Price: 260czk
This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's 30 years of work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, glass, porcelain and graphic art.

The annual Czech Bigman Festival is held once more in Prague. Bigman is a mix of Terrain Triathlon and Long Distance Triathlon. The running, swimming and cycling take place at various locations throughout the city.

Dvorak's Prague Festival 2017
Dvorak's Prague Festival 2017

A major series of concerts celebrating Antonín Dvořák, the great Czech composer. Concerts feature works by both Dvořák and international composers, and are performed by Czech and international orchestras in the magnificent main concert hall at the Rudolfinum. Birell Prague Grand Prix - Running Event
Birell Prague Grand Prix - Running Event

The Prague Grand Prix is the last major running event of the year through Prague's city centre. Participants run the course at night, through the illuminated historical streets. The atmosphere at the Old Town Square is enhanced by live music and dancing. The event comprises a 10km Men's Race, 5km Women's Race, and 10km Men's and 5km Women's team races.
Where: Women's 5km Starts (19:00) & Finishes (time limit 19:45) at the Old Town Square.
Men's 10km Starts (20:30) & Finishes (time limit 22:00) at the Old Town Square.

Wenceslas Square

The St. Wenceslas Market features wooden huts selling glassware, ceramics, wooden toys, candles, jewellery, puppets, embroidery and other local handicrafts. There is also plenty of food and drink on offer; a good chance to sample grilled sausages, hams on spits, local pastries, Czech beer and hot mulled wine.

Troja, in the outskirts of Prague, is a green lush area, and home to several vineyards. The Grape Harvest at Prague Botanical Gardens celebrates local wine-making, offering visitors the chance to taste wines produced here and in Moravia. There is also live music and entertainment, and food stalls.
No need to pre-book, just turn up.

Travel: Metro station Nádraží Holešovice (line C). Then take bus 112 direction Prague Zoo and alight at bus stop Kovarna.

Festival of the Grape & Wine Tasting at Prague Castle
Date: 16 September 2017 - 17 September 2017
Time: 10:00-18:00
Price: free.
Annual festival celebrating the grape harvest in the Royal Garden at Prague Castle. Set amongst the landscaped gardens of the castle are refreshment stalls offering food and drink associated with this time of the year, ranging from hot snacks and fine local wines, to Burcak, partially fermented young wine. There are demonstrations of traditional crafts such as a historic grape pressing and basket weaving, plus performances by folk singers and musicians.
Open 10:00-16:00. Admission is free.
The second part of the festival is a Moravian wine tasting event inside the adjacent Ball Games House, where visitors can sample excellent Czech wines at reasonable prices.
Open 11:00-18:00. Admission and tasting glass: 80czk. No need to pre-book, just turn up.

Travel: Metro station Malostranska (line A). Then take tram 22 up the hill and alight at tram stop Prazsky hrad (Prague Castle).

Day of the Czech Statehood - Public Holiday
Date: 28 September 2017
Public holiday. Commemorates St. Wenceslas, patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his murder by his brother in 935.
Prague sightseeing and entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

Prague Opera, Ballet & Classical Concert listings & tickets

Prague is famous for opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances take place in several magnificent opera houses, stunning concert halls, and in an array of historic churches. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Prague Theatre

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and sound effects. While marionette theatre features giant puppets. Shows are highly visual, so appeal to adults and children of all ages and nationalities. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
