The annual Czech Beer Festival in Prague is the largest gastronomic event in the country, with seating for 4,000 visitors on benches inside huge marquees. There are 150 varieties of beer to sample, sourced from international brewers, regional breweries and microbreweries, Czech food to taste, and live bands to entertain.
Where: Letná Park, Prague 7.
Travel: Metro station Hradcanska (line A), then tram to Sparta (trams 1, 8, 12, 25, 26, 51, 56). Some trams run from the city centre, so you may be able to travel directly there by tram.

Time: Friday 13:00-20:00; Saturday 11:00-18:00
Price: 790czk per 1 day or 1300czk per 2 days. Includes festival brochure, tasting glass and unlimited degustation.
No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
Sample up to 400 wines by 70 different winemakers hailing from all over Central Europe. The festival takes place inside the New Town Hall and outside in the courtyard. There is also regional food on sale and a Kids’ Corner with professional nannies for families.

Pink May Festival

Price: Free admission. To sample wine, buy a degustation set at 100czk. Includes tasting glass, festival brochure & pen.
Pink May is a festival of rosé wines and clarets, featuring the best bottles from 25 winemakers from Moravia and Bohemia. Taste the wine, enjoy some food, and listen to live jazz and swing music.

Rumfest

Indoor and outdoor festival celebrating over 100 brands of rum from around the world. Join in with rum tastings and workshops, and enjoy specialities of Caribbean cuisine. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced with Latino music from a live band and a DJ.

Open House Prague

The Open House Prague project offers the public the opportunity to visit over 40 normally inaccessible buildings and spaces. Visit the headquarters of companies, secret dining salons at a railway station, and the roofs of shops and office buildings. Buildings that participate are free to enter, with volunteers on hand to guide you.

The annual Prague Microfestival is an English/Czech festival of the arts, which combines contemporary writing, art, film and performance. The festival boasts 24 writers from 12 different countries, including an art gallery, microlab and microshow with experimental and avant-garde music and performance.

Prague - Heart of Nations Folklore Festival
Prague - Heart of Nations Folklore Festival

The 20th international meeting of folklore groups runs over 4 days on an open-air stage at the Old Town Square in Prague. Musicians and dancers travel from around the world to perform.

Price: Adults: 500czk. Children (0-6yrs): free. Includes tokens to exchange for food samples at the stalls.
No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
The annual Prague Food Festival celebrates the culinary skills of the top restaurant chefs in the Czech Republic. The festival takes place in a large outdoor setting at Vysehrad Park. Wander around the stalls and sample local and international dishes, along with wines, sparking wines and Czech beers. There is also a children’s area with entertainment and cooking instruction.

The first Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix was held in Prague on 17 May 1997. It has run annually ever since, making it a popular event at the Marketa Stadium.

1st Speedway League Race

Following on from the World Championship (Speedway Grand Prix) on the Saturday, the 1st League race on the Sunday crowns a dramatic speedway weekend at the Marketa Stadium.

Prague Opera
Prague Opera, Ballet & Classical Concert listings & tickets

Prague is famous for opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances take place in magnificent opera houses, stunning concert halls, and in an array of historic churches. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.
