Folk tales and fairy tales play a strong role in the national psyche in the Czech Republic. This exhibition, aimed at adults and children, explores the influence of Czech fairy tales on music.

Municipal House
Blanka Matragi, Fashion Designer - Exhibition

Time: Daily 10:00-19:00
Price: 260czk. No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's 30 years of work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, glass, porcelain and graphic art.

Light and Life - Exhibition

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building explores the effects of light on life. Energy from sunlight has played a key role in the evolution and diversity of living organisms (although some species do survive without light, for example in deep caves). Cartoon characters guide children through the exhibition.

Noah’s Ark - Exhibition

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building reveals the remarkable beauty and diversity of animal species on Earth, and draws attention to modern dangers that put it at risk. Displays include animals that once roamed freely in the Czech lands, such as brown bears, elk and beavers, plus African animals, and extinct animals such as a full dinosaur skeleton.

This unique exhibition at the Prague City Museum tells the history of Prague from 1848 to the proclamation of the independence of Czechoslovakia in 1918.

The Celts - Exhibition
The Celts - Exhibition

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building explores the world of the Celts in Central Europe in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds have revealed the everyday life of the Celts, including their intricate craftsmanship and religious rituals. The National Museum holds one of the most extensive archaeological collections of Celtic artefacts in Europe.

Municipal House

Municipal House is a fitting setting for an exhibition commemorating 100 years of the declaration of Czechoslovakia, as the proclamation of the independence of Czechoslovakia was signed in this very building in 1918.

Czech and International riders meet for the first race of the Prague Speedway season - this year is the 50th anniversary of the oldest speedway race in Prague. The event is named after the former captain of the Czech speedway team, who was seriously injured in a 1968 race. The race draws big names every year, such as Greg Hancock, Emil Sayfutdinov and Nicki Pedersen.

SIGNAL Light Festival
SIGNAL Light Festival

The SIGNAL Festival is an open-air celebration of light. Some of Prague's famous buildings are bathed in an array of colours, as the best in modern technology is employed to illuminate the buildings using fixed lighting or video projections. To enjoy the shows simply stroll around the Old Town and by the river at night-time.

Designblok is the largest design and fashion show in Central Europe. Designblok showcases the work of designers and manufacturers from all over Europe, including designs from new and established brands and design studios.

Prague events
Festive Military Parade
Date: 28 October 2018
As part of the celebrations to mark 100 years since the proclamation of the independence of Czechoslovakia, the Czech army are performing a full-scale military parade on Evropska street. 2000 Czech army servicemen will be involved, along with military equipment including Gripen fighter jets, tanks, armoured cars, and military and police helicopters. The parade ends with a display at Letna Park.

Public holiday. Commemorates the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918.
Prague sightseeing and entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

Prague is famous for opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances take place in magnificent opera houses, stunning concert halls, and in an array of historic churches. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and sound effects. While marionette theatre features giant puppets. Shows are highly visual, so appeal to adults and children of all ages and nationalities. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
