Municipal House is a fitting setting for an exhibition commemorating 100 years since the proclamation of independence of Czechoslovakia. The declaration was signed in this very building on the 28th October 1918.

Light and Life - Exhibition

This exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum explores the effects of light on life. Energy from sunlight has played a key role in the evolution and diversity of living organisms (although some species do survive without light, for example in deep caves). Cartoon characters guide children through the exhibition.

National Museum
National Museum Has Re-opened - Free Entry for 2018
Dates: 01 November 2018 - 31 December 2018
Following 7 years of reconstruction works, the Historical Building of the National Museum in Prague is once more open to visitors. Over the course of the next few months the exhibition rooms will re-open in stages. To mark this momentous occasion, admission will be free until the end of 2018. Arrive early to avoid the queues.

This exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum reveals the remarkable beauty and diversity of animal species on Earth, and draws attention to modern dangers that put it at risk. Displays include animals that once roamed freely in the Czech lands, such as brown bears, elk and beavers, plus African animals, and extinct animals such as a full dinosaur skeleton.

This exhibition features an extraordinary series of paintings by the Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha. The Slav Epic displays 20 large canvases that capture the entire history of the Slavic nations.

The Celts - Exhibition

This exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum explores the world of the Celts in Central Europe in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds have revealed the everyday life of the Celts, including their intricate craftsmanship and religious rituals. The National Museum holds one of the most extensive archaeological collections of Celtic artefacts in Europe.

This exhibition at the Historical Building of the National Museum explores the relations between the Czechs and Slovaks, showing the things that have united and divided the two nations over the years. Some of the real-life stories are fascinating.

Welcome to the Czech Repubrick, the LEGOLAND of Czech monuments which has been constructed at the Hamleys store in Prague. See St. Vitus Cathedral, Karlstejn Castle and Hluboka Castle, plus a LEGO roller coaster. 2.5 tons of LEGO bricks were used to build the exhibition, which took 13,850 hours!

This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's 30 years of work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, glass, porcelain and graphic art.

Wooden huts and Christmas lights create a magical atmosphere. Browse the stalls stocked with local handicrafts, and sample traditional Czech food and drinks.

This annual exhibition features traditional nativity scenes, plus this year the focus is on toys, which are inseparably connected with Christmas. Traditional toys are on display, many made of wood, including the once popular rocking horses, and various marionette theatre puppets. There are also workshops showing visitors how toys and Christmas decorations are made. Enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional Czech Christmas.

Jindrisska Tower presents traditional hand-carved wooden nativity scenes created by wood-carvers in Třešť, a small town in the Vysočina region, south-east of Prague.

World Floorball Championship 2018

Prague is hosting the biggest event in world floorball. The main venues for the championship are the O2 Arena and Arena Sparta – Podvinný Mlýn, which are located 900 meters from each other.

Charles Bridge

In the build up to Christmas, every day at 4pm a lamplighter in period costume lights the historical gas lamps on Charles Bridge and in the nearby streets. These days the lamps are switched on automatically, but December is the ideal month to revive this romantic old custom.

The Prague Christmas Markets light up the city, bringing locals and tourists together in a true 'winter wonderland' setting. Among the local food and drinks to sample are grilled sausages, hams on spits, pastries, Czech beer and hot mulled wine.
