In the build up to Christmas, every day at 4pm a lamplighter in period costume lights historical gas lamps placed along Charles Bridge and in the nearby streets. It's a bit of theatre really, but December is the ideal month to revive this romantic old custom.

Municipal House

Municipal House is a fitting setting for an exhibition commemorating 100 years since the proclamation of independence of Czechoslovakia. The declaration was signed in this very building on the 28th October 1918.

National Museum
National Museum Reopens - Free Entry in 2018
Dates: 30 December 2018 - 31 December 2018
Following 7 years of reconstruction works, the Historical Building of the National Museum in Prague is once more open to visitors. Over the course of the next few months the exhibition rooms will re-open in stages. To mark this momentous occasion, entry will be free until the end of 2018. Arrive early to avoid the queues.

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and audio effects. While marionette theatre features giant puppets. Shows are highly visual, so appeal to adults and children of all ages and nationalities. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
