The oldest reference to the St. Mathew's fair dates from the 16th century. It is one of the most popular fairs in the Czech Republic, with 120 rides and attractions to enjoy, from swing carousels to bumper cars and shooting galleries.

100 Years of the Czechoslovak Crown - Exhibition

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak Crown, the Czech National Bank has prepared an exhibition at Prague Castle explaining the history of the Czech currency. Some rare exhibits are on display for the first time.

The Guilty Pleasures of Antonín Dvorak - Exhibition

This exhibition presents Antonin Dvorak, the famous Czech composer, as an every day man, with ordinary pastimes and pleasures. He loved to smoke, enjoyed playing cards and appreciated Czech cuisine. When in Prague, to satisfy his needs, he frequented pubs and cafés with his friends.

Blanka Matragi, Fashion Designer: Timeless - Exhibition

This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, chandeliers, glass and porcelain objects, and art.

This exhibition at the Historical Building of the National Museum explores the relations between the Czechs and Slovaks, showing the things that have united and divided the two nations over the years. Some of the real-life stories are fascinating.

Don Giovanni enjoys a spring run at the Estates Theatre in Prague. In 1787, Mozart personally conducted the world premiere of the opera at this very theatre. Impressive set designs, period costumes and a superb cast create a true sense of occasion.

The National Museum in Prague is celebrating 200 years of its existence. This exhibition marks the occasion with a display of 200 of the most important and interesting artefacts from the museum's collections. Through these items the exhibition tells the story of the National Museum from its foundation to the present day.

This exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum explores the world of the Celts in Central Europe in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds have revealed the everyday life of the Celts, including their intricate craftsmanship and religious rituals. The National Museum holds one of the most extensive archaeological collections of Celtic artefacts in Europe.

Czech Repubrick - LEGO Exhibition

Prices: Adult: 290 CZK. Child (5-15yrs): 210 CZK. Child (0-100cm) free. No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
The Czech Repubrick is a display of Czech monuments built entirely from LEGO. Constructed at Hamleys in Prague, it features St. Vitus Cathedral, Karlstejn Castle and a LEGO roller coaster. 2.5 tons of LEGO bricks were used to create the exhibition.

Wooden huts decorated with the colours of spring create a magical atmosphere. Browse the stalls stocked with local handicrafts, and sample traditional Czech food and drinks.

The Prague Easter Markets open daily at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, with a smaller market held at Prague Castle. Wooden huts display traditional handicrafts such as glassware, embroidered lace, jewellery and hand-painted Easter eggs, plus local food and drinks: sausages, large hams on spits, pastries, Czech beer and hot mulled wine.

The Easter markets are open every day over the Easter weekend. Most sights and attractions are open Easter Friday to Sunday, but some close Easter Monday. Entertainment venues are open throughout, including the opera houses, theatres, concert halls, bars and restaurants. The annual Prague Microfestival is an English/Czech festival of the arts, which combines contemporary writing, art, film and performance. The festival boasts 24 writers from 12 different countries, including an art gallery, microlab and microshow with experimental and avant-garde music and performance.

The Prosecco & Food Festival celebrates the end of the Italian sparkling wine season. As well as bottles of Prosecco to sample, visitors can enjoy cocktails, Italian gastronomy, live entertainment, and relax amongst the romantic atmosphere of Zlute Lazne.

Witches' Night Parade (Paleni Carodejnic)

An ancient folk festival, Witches' Night is a cross between Halloween and May Day, and marks the end of winter and the start of spring. An effigy of a witch, said to resemble winter (or perhaps a historical reference to witch-hunting) is burnt on pyres on hill tops across the country. In Prague, there is usually a lantern parade starting at 7pm at the Lesser Town Square, proceeding on to Kampa Park for a witches burning around 8pm.

Prague is famous for its opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances are held in magnificent opera houses, stunning concert halls, and in an array of churches and other historic buildings. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and audio effects. While marionette theatre features giant puppets. Shows are highly visual, so appeal to adults and children of all ages and nationalities. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
