Municipal House
The Steadfast - Kafka to the Velvet Revolution - Exhibition

In celebration of the 30 years since the Velvet Revolution, this exhibition is a different view of Czech art from 1918 to 1989. It features 30 steadfast writers and visual artists, exploring their verses, diary notes, quotes and interviews.

This exhibition by the National Gallery Prague presents French impressionist art loaned from the Ordrupgaard Museum in Denmark. Visitors can admire works by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Delacroix, Courbet, Corot and Daubigny, as well as Post-Impressionism art by Cézanne and Gauguin.

The Celts - Exhibition
The Celts - Exhibition

This exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum explores the world of the Celts in Central Europe in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds have revealed the everyday life of the Celts, including their intricate craftsmanship and religious rituals. The National Museum holds one of the most extensive archaeological collections of Celtic artefacts in Europe.

This exhibition at the Historical Building of the National Museum is dedicated to the bravery of the Czechoslovak pilots who joined and flew with the Royal Air Force during World War II.

Villa Amerika Dvorak Museum
Antonín Dvorak: Inspiration from Nature - Exhibition

Nature played a major role in the life of the famous Czech composer Antonín Dvorák, and it had a strong impact on his work. He was an enthusiastic hiker, pigeon fancier and gardener. This exhibition includes items from Dvorák’s personal estate: his walking sticks, hats, drinking bottle (flask) and his own copy of a book on birdsong from the collection of the National Museum.

This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, chandeliers, glass and porcelain objects, and art.

Czech Repubrick - LEGO Exhibition
Czech Repubrick - LEGO Exhibition

The Czech Repubrick is a display of Czech monuments built entirely from LEGO. Constructed at Hamleys in Prague, it features St. Vitus Cathedral, Karlstejn Castle and a LEGO roller coaster. 2.5 tons of LEGO bricks were used to create the exhibition.

Don Giovanni returns for its annual summer run at the Estates Theatre in Prague. In 1787, Mozart personally conducted the world premiere of the opera at this very theatre. Impressive set designs, period costumes and a superb cast create a true sense of occasion.

The beautiful gardens of Chateau Troja is hosting the annual foodparade festival. Sample food from 30 Prague restaurants, participate in workshops and cooking shows, discover new tastes in the Forbidden taste zone, and learn to grill in the Grill & BBQ zone. A Hamleys bus is on site to entertain the kids.

The final major running event of the season in Prague. Participants run through the illuminated historical streets at twilight. The event comprises a 10km Men's & Women's Race and Team Races.

Jack Daniel’s presents Burgerfest celebrating the American hamburger and BBQ food in general. Restaurants in Prague and Czech Republic that feature burgers on their menu compete to cook the best food for visitors to sample. There are also drinks stalls and live music.

The largest Czech vegan event is held annually at Naplavka (an embankment by the river). This year's theme is Unity. The event presents the newest trends in healthy and animal friendly lifestyles, with plenty of food and drink on offer to sample.

Major series of concerts celebrating Antonín Dvořák, the great Czech composer. Concerts feature works by both Dvořák and international composers, and are performed by Czech and international orchestras in the magnificent main concert hall at Rudolfinum. Festival of the Grape & Wine Tasting at Prague Castle

Annual festival celebrating the grape harvest in the Royal Garden at Prague Castle.
Part One is held in the landscaped gardens, where stalls serve food and drinks associated with harvest time, including local wines and Burcak (partially fermented young wine). There are also demonstrations of traditional crafts such as grape pressing and basket weaving, plus performances by folk singers and musicians.
Entry: free.
Part Two is Moravian wine tasting inside the adjacent Empire Greenhouse, where visitors can sample Czech wines at reasonable prices.

Troja, in the outskirts of Prague, is a green lush area, and home to several vineyards. The Grape Harvest at Prague Botanical Gardens celebrates local wine-making, offering visitors the chance to taste wines produced here and in Moravia. There is also live music and entertainment, and food stalls.

The Prosecco & Food Festival celebrates the end of the Italian sparkling wine season. As well as bottles of Prosecco to sample, visitors can enjoy cocktails, Italian gastronomy, live entertainment, and relax amongst the romantic atmosphere of Zlute Lazne.

Public holiday in Prague. Commemorates St. Wenceslas, patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his murder by his brother in 935.
Prague sightseeing and entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

The St. Wenceslas Vines Festival runs annually on St. Wenceslas's Day, 28th September, to celebrate both the Czech patron saint and the grape harvest. It takes place on the hillside below Prague Castle at St. Wenceslas Vineyard, which is in the grounds of Villa Richter. Sample newly fermented wines and the best finished wines from previous years. For entertainment there are knightly contests, live music and dance. Even St. Wenceslas should put in an appearance!
Where: St. Wenceslas Vineyard (Svatováclavská vinice), Villa Richter, Staré zámecké schody 6, Castle District, Prague 1.
Travel: Metro station: Malostranska (line A). Walk out to the main road and turn left. Walk up the road 75m and just before the pink building on the left, turn left into Stare zamecke schody (Old Castle Steps). The vineyard is 200m up the steps on the right-hand side.
