St. Wenceslas Market features wooden huts selling glassware, ceramics, wooden toys, candles, jewellery, puppets, embroidery and other local handicrafts. There is also local food and drinks on offer; grilled sausages, hams on spits, pastries, Czech beer and hot mulled wine.

The Czech National Bank opens their headquarters to the public to mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovakian currency, the Crown.

Dyzajn Market Autumn
Dyzajn Market Autumn

Prices: Free entry.
Dyzajn is an open-air market where visitors can buy original artwork and design pieces from 180 designers, including pieces of art, jewellery and accessories, handbags, china, decorations, clothes and toys. There is also live music, creative workshops, children's theatre and fashion shows.
Where: Vaclav Havel Square, Narodni, Prague 1.

Bach for All 2019 - Series of Concerts

Bach For All is an international music festival devoted to the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach’s music, both major and lesser known works, is presented by renowned Baroque music performers. Musicians travel from around the Czech Republic and abroad to appear.

Day of the Czech Statehood - Public Holiday
Dates: 28 September 2019
Public holiday in Prague. Commemorates St. Wenceslas, patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his murder by his brother in 935.
Prague sightseeing and entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

The Czech Ministry of Culture resides in the Nostický Palace, one of the most beautiful early Baroque palaces in Prague. On the 28th September it opens its doors to the public.

St. Wenceslas Vines Festival at Villa Richter

Prices: 100 CZK. Includes 3 wine samples. No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
The St. Wenceslas Vines Festival runs annually on St. Wenceslas's Day, 28th September, to celebrate both the Czech patron saint and the grape harvest. It takes place on the hillside below Prague Castle at St. Wenceslas Vineyard, which is in the grounds of Villa Richter. Sample newly fermented wines and the best finished wines from previous years. For entertainment there are knightly contests, live music and dance. Even St. Wenceslas should put in an appearance!
Where: St. Wenceslas Vineyard (Svatováclavská vinice), Villa Richter, Staré zámecké schody 6, Castle District, Prague 1.
Travel: Metro station: Malostranska (line A). Walk out to the main road and turn left. Walk up the road 75m and just before the pink building on the left, turn left into Stare zamecke schody (Old Castle Steps). The vineyard is 200m up the steps on the right-hand side.

Prague is famous for its opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances are held in magnificent opera houses, stunning concert halls, and in an array of churches and other historic buildings. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and audio effects. While marionette theatre features giant puppets. Shows are highly visual, so appeal to adults and children of all ages and nationalities. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
