Soon after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the National Museum began to collect objects related to the situation. And it was the face masks that quickly became a symbol of this time in the Czech Republic. A shortage of face masks led thousands of Czech women to volunteer to sew face masks at home, to help combat the spread of the virus. The masks have therefore become a symbol of people's cohesion and solidarity, of people sticking together in hard times. The museum has therefore prepared an exhibition showing face masks of various styles, shapes and patterns; from the ones made at home to the designer ones, from the ones for personal use to the ones used in hospitals. Each mask carries its own story.
