The Kings of the Sun exhibition at the National Museum documents the greatest archaeological discoveries of Czech Egyptologists. Treasures from the 3rd to 1st millennium BC are on display, including a unique royal sculpture of King Raneferef, one of the four pharaohs buried in Abusir, and an extensive collection of statues from the tombs of Princess Sheretnebty and the scribe Nefer.

On the occasion of this year's scheduled Olympic Games the National Museum has prepared a new exhibition which focuses on the three Tokyo Games – the ones in 1940 that did not take place, the ones that were held in 1964 and the ones that are supposed to take place this summer. Among other things you will find out about the history of sports equipment and you can compare it with the latest models.

The Sculpture Line festival has transformed several Prague city centre locations into open air galleries: Jungmann Square in the New Town, Franz Kafka Square in the Old Town, Jiraskovo square in front of the Dancing House or Vojan Gardens in the Lesser Town. Visitors can see sculptures by leading Czech and international artists.

Czech Press Photo - Exhibition

The Czech Press Photo exhibition takes place in the historical building of the National Museum for the first time. The 26th edition of the exhibition features 450 photos in total, including the winning photo by photographer Roman Vondrous who captured a man passing through a disinfection gate.

Dancing House Gallery presents one of the most controversial exhibitions in Prague. It guides you through decadence and erotic life in Prague in the 20th century. The iMucha exhibition at Municipal House is a comprehensive collection of posters and other works by Alfons Mucha. The collection is owned by the Czech former world No.1 tennis player Ivan Lendl, and when it was previously displayed it broke the record for the most-visited exhibition of fine arts in the Czech Republic. It returns with a new look, bringing Mucha's works to life with digital technology; models from his posters are shown in motion, visitors can follow the amazing revived storyline of the Slav Epic, and Alfons Mucha himself speaks from a self-portrait.

This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, chandeliers, glass and porcelain objects, and art.

Jack Daniel’s presents Burgerfest celebrating the American hamburger and BBQ food in general. Restaurants in Prague and Czech Republic that feature burgers on their menu compete to cook the best food for visitors to sample. There are also drinks stalls and live music.

Join the fun at this festival dedicated to the popular Italian sparkling wine, Prosecco. The event takes place in the vineyard and restaurants at Villa Richter, which is located just below Prague Castle. Sample wine and Italian food, including prosciutto, cheese, olives and ice cream.
Where: St. Wenceslas Vineyard (Svatováclavská vinice), Villa Richter, Staré zámecké schody 6, Castle District, Prague 1.
Travel: Metro station: Malostranska (line A). Walk out to the main road and turn left. Walk up the road 75m and just before the pink building on the left, turn left to take the Stare Zamecke Schody (Old Castle Steps). The vineyard is around 200m up the steps on the right-hand side.

Metronome Prague Warm Up

Metronome Prague Festival has been postponed to 2022, however the organisers prepared a unique open-air musical event for this September instead. One of the main stars of this event at Stromovka Park will be British band Morcheeba.

The Prague Open Dance Festival is the largest international dance competition in the Czech Republic. Nearly 800 dance pairs from around the world take part in the event. To mark the 15th anniversary of the competition there is a unique show on the opening night, called Night of Nine. The highlight of the evening is a show of 9 World and European dance champions performing standard and Latin American dances.

Febiofest is an international film festival screening the best of the past year's cinema releases. The festival focuses on feature-length films, but short, documentary, experimental and animated movies also form part of the mix. Most screenings are at Cinestar Andel.

The battle of White Mountain in 1620 was an important battle of the Thirty Years' War, which determined the destiny of the Czech lands for the next 300 years. After the defeat of the Czech Estates by the Catholic League and Imperial armies, the Czech lands became part of the Habsburg monarchy until 1918. To mark the 401st anniversary of the event, hundreds of soldiers, horse riders and artillerists will meet at the battlefield on the outskirts of Prague to re-enact the battle. Food, drink and other stalls will be on site.

Public holiday. Commemorates St. Wenceslas, patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his murder by his brother in 935.
Prague sightseeing and entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

The St. Wenceslas Vines Festival runs annually on St. Wenceslas's Day, 28th September, to celebrate both the Czech patron saint and the grape harvest. It takes place on the hillside below Prague Castle at St. Wenceslas Vineyard, which is in the grounds of Villa Richter. Sample newly fermented wines and the best finished wines from previous years. For entertainment there are knightly contests, live music and dance. Even St. Wenceslas should put in an appearance!
