Black Light Theatre

PERFORMANCE DETAILS

Aspects of Alice at the Ta Fantastika Theatre in Prague is loosely based on Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland'. The show has played to audiences in more than thirty countries, on three continents.

Imagination, poetry and technical wizardry make this one of the finest black light theatre productions.

The story begins at the point where Alice approaches the end of her childhood, and conjures up in the imagination the beautiful moments of growing-up: Alice's first loves, the awakening of adulthood, and an understanding of life; the laughter and tears, joy and sadness.

And as we are in Prague, we journey back into the city's past: King Charles IV and St. Vitus Cathedral come to life; we walk through the secret heart of the Jewish cemetery in the Old Town; and we taste freedom, as Czechia is restored to it's rightful place in the heart of Europe.

The show is accompanied by wonderful contemporary tunes by Petr Hapka, and the best in Czech classical music: Má Vlast Symphony by Bedřích Smetana and Slavonic Dances by Antonín Dvořák.

The performance concludes with a 15 minute workshop which reveals some of the secrets behind black light theatre. Among other things, a member of the audience can learn how to fly!

Aspects of Alice features all the best elements of this unique theatrical genre: excellent artistic design, large screen projection, animated film, mime artists, entertaining music, unique theatrical tricks and other black light effects.

In black light theatre, the story unfolds visually with little or no spoken dialogue. This makes the shows ideal for international audiences, including both adults and children.
