A full day winter sightseeing tour to the beautiful medieval town of Cesky Krumlov.
Located in the south of the Czech Republic, Cesky Krumlov is protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site. It is one of the country's most attractive places to visit after Prague.
This sightseeing tour is part by air-conditioned coach, part on foot.
After picking you up from your Prague hotel, we drive for around 2˝ hours through the scenic Bohemian countryside to reach Cesky Krumlov.
We begin our guided walking tour with a stroll through the formal gardens and courtyards of Cesky Krumlov Castle. Next, we walk down into the historic centre of Cesky Krumlov, where the quaint old streets are lined with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses, once belonging to wealthy noblemen.
At 12:30 we stop off at a local restaurant to enjoy a 3 course lunch. This includes a choice of 4 main courses (vegetarian option is available).
After lunch there is free time to explore the ancient town. There are many charming small shops and cafés to discover, plus a lovely winding river to walk by.
Next we turn our attentions back to Cesky Krumlov Castle, once the seat of powerful lords, the Romberks and the Schwarzenbergs. The main part of the castle is closed in the winter, however a fascinating exhibition opens in the oldest wing of the castle and in the tower.
These buildings date from the 13th century, so are worthy of a visit in their own right. But it is the items of great historical value contained within that interests us the most. Thus we embark on a guided visit to view the large paintings, frescos, ancient weapons, antique furniture, intricate jewellery, glassware and china on display.
And as the castle grounds remain open in the winter, by walking further through the gardens we are able to see the rest of the mighty Renaissance castle up close.
After the tour, we commence our journey back to Prague.
Prague Experience sightseeing tours are in English and another language. They are led by professional, licensed tourist guides and use modern, air-conditioned mini-coaches.
