The Money Exhibition at the New Building of the National Museum looks at the history of currencies, exploring the development of commerce and wage labour, the workings of banks and of the stock exchange. In a broader context it also analyses the influence of money on art, lifestyles and on human morality.
The exhibition features currencies, historic treasures, silverware, jewels, photographs and pictures. For adults and children.

Municipal House
Vital Art Nouveau 1900

Municipal House is the foremost Art Nouveau building in Prague. This exhibition presents late 19th century Czech and European Art Nouveau works, on loan from the Museum of Decorative Arts. Decorative art shown at the Paris World’s Fair of 1900 will also form part of the exhibition, which totals over 400 items.

The World Cup 2014 may be held far away in Brazil, but Prague is a good city to watch the live television coverage. Prague draws friendly fans from around the world, who combine a city break with watching their nation's fortunes on the big screen.
Large screens erected at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square show a selection of games from all competing nations. Alternatively, catch the action at the city's sports bars on projection screens and TVs, and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

Celebrated Russian conductor and opera company director Valery Gergiev leads the Czech Philharmonic in a special one-off performance of Tchaikovsky (Swan Lake), Rachmaninoff and Mussorgsky at the Rudolfinum Concert Hall. 70-100 musicians feature in the performance.

Prague Museum Night is organised by the National Museum, the Prague Public Transit Company and the Association of Museums and Galleries of the Czech Republic, in co-operation with other museums and institutes. Most museums open for free, offering visitors a unique night-time view of their exhibits.

The Prague Proms annual music festival is a series of classical concerts organised by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. These are held at their Prague home, Municipal House, in the stunning Smetana Hall, the largest auditorium in the building.

Prague Opera
Prague Opera, Ballet & Classical Concert listings & tickets

Prague is famous for opera, ballet and classical concerts. Performances take place in three magnificent opera houses, in stunning concert halls and in an array of beautiful historic churches. Tickets are reasonably priced, so shows often sell out. Advance reservations are therefore highly recommended.

Prague Theatre

Visit the Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience.
Black light theatre is a highly charged mix of dynamic dance, mime, singers, film, and state-of-the-art visual and sound effects.
Marionette theatre features giant puppets dressed in 18th century costumes. Shows are highly visual, so suitable for adults and children of all ages and nationalities. And as with opera and concerts, advance reservations are highly recommended.
