| | | Villa Richter is a classicist summerhouse dating from 1836. It is situated on the hillside below Prague Castle, set amongst the vines and garden terraces of one of Bohemia's oldest vineyards, St. Wenceslas Vineyard (AD 908). Visitors to Villa Richter can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Prague, over the Vltava River, the Lesser Town and across to the Old Town. This seemingly rural ideal is far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, and yet is remarkably accessible: the metro station Malostranská (line A) is just a few minutes walk away, or alternatively visitors can walk down from Prague Castle via the Stare zamecke schody (Old Castle Steps). Villa Richter operates as a special events venue, hosting wine festivals, corporate functions and weddings throughout the year. The villa boasts an impressive 'Wine Chest'. Embedded in the villa's bedrock mass, it stores 700 types of rare wines, mostly fine Czech, French and Italian wines. Events at Villa Richter are held in the main building, the heated conservatory, and, weather permitting, outside on the terrace. Villa Richter has all the charm of Prague's old world. Take a stroll amongst the vines while you are there, the predecessors of which are said to have been tended by St. Wenceslas himself! |
