Karlin Musical Theatre (Hudební divadlo Karlín) in Prague stages some of the city's premier opera and ballet productions. The theatre is a magnificent Neo-Baroque building, which opened in 1881. It is the second largest theatre in Prague after the Prague State Opera, with seating for 921 people. In recent years the theatre has undergone a 630 million crowns restoration project. The auditorium has been restored and modernised, with air-conditioning installed. The result is a beautiful setting to enjoy productions by Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti, Prokofiev and other well-known composers. A varied programme of opera and ballet runs from September to June. Karlin Musical Theatre has a comfortable café bar called 'Theatro', where you can enjoy a glass of wine, Champagne, beer or a hot drink as part of your visit. Karlin Musical Theatre is easily accessible by metro, tram and taxi. Metro station Florenc is just 50 metres away.
