| Kolkovna Celnice is a traditional Czech pub at Republic Square, in the New Town in Prague, near Municipal House and Palladium Shopping Centre. It is just a few minutes walk from both Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.
Kolkovna Celnice serves fresh, unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell tank beer and Czech food in a pub-style setting that blends warm contemporary colours with photos and memorabilia depicting the history of beer brewing in Czechia.
The food is of a good standard and dishes are well presented. There is a choice of typical Czech fare, including goulash, venison, baked ribs, and a delicious roast duck served in a roasting pan. Main courses are served with side dishes of dumplings and red or white cabbage, as well as the more modern mashed potatoes and French fries. The menu also includes food of a more international nature, such as lamb shank, beef steaks, chicken, salmon, various pasta dishes, and salad. Kolkovna is one of a growing number of pubs and restaurants in the city to sell tank beer; the beer is delivered from the brewery unpasteurised in temperature controlled airtight tanks, which seal in the freshness. The taste is superb. There are also several kegged beers, both light and dark, and wines, Champagne and cocktails. In the summer, Kolkovna sets out tables on a large outside terrace, a particularly nice spot in the afternoon to while away a few hours in the sunshine. If you are seeking a taste of traditional Czech hospitality, Kolkovna V Kolkovne is a nice, centrally located pub. |
