In the company of an experienced local guide, we introduce you to the dramatic history of Prague. This enlightening walking tour through the historic centre of the city shows you Medieval Prague from all perspectives: climb the tower of the Astronomical Clock to take in magnificent views; learn about the foundations of the Old Town at street level; and descend into chambers beneath the city to uncover dark events from the past. You meet your tour guide near Charles Bridge, in the Lesser Town. We then set out across the bridge in the direction of the Old Town, and en route discover some of the legends and mysteries connected to this famous thoroughfare. In the Old Town, we hear about the people who have shaped Prague over the past 1000 years, and discover the important historical sights they built. We also find out about the harsh realities of life in Medieval times. At the Old Town Square, we marvel at the mechanisms of the Astronomical Clock, before climbing the steps inside the Old Town Hall Tower to take in the remarkable views from the top. Next, we head in the other direction, descending several levels below the square to the former Old Town Prison, part of the Medieval Underground. What dark events led to the establishment of this labyrinth of chambers and tunnels? Who were the prisoners and their tormentors, and ultimately for some, their executioners? The Medieval Underground is an intriguing place, totally unknown by most people on the streets above. Prague Experience walking tours are led by professional, licensed tourist guides.
