| Chapeau Rouge is a well-known party bar, late-night club and live events venue located near the Old Town Square. It is popular with both local Czechs and an international crowd.
Set across three levels, the main bar is dimly lit and decorated in dark red tones, resembling an old-fashioned pub with a distinctly well-worn feel.
As something of an institution among post-communist bars, Chapeau Rouge offers visitors a flavour of the type of venues Prague produced in the early 1990s, before many were gentrified in the new millennium.
Music plays throughout the day. Visit to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a drink with friends. As the night progresses, head downstairs to one of two underground clubs, where the setting becomes more psychedelic, the music grows louder, and dancing takes over.
Drinks include a notorious mix of absinthe and Red Bull, alongside a selection of cocktails, basic wines, and reasonably priced Czech beer.
The crowd tends to be mixed in age and nationality, contributing to a lively atmosphere both during the day and into Prague’s late-night scene. |
