Chapeau Rouge is a good party bar and late night club located just off the Old Town Square. It is popular with both local Czechs and the International crowd. Chapeau Rouge is set on three levels. The main bar is dimly lit and decorated a dark red colour, resembling an old-fashioned pub - it certainly has a well worn feel about it. Being somewhat of an institution amongst post-communism bars, a visit to Chapeau Rouge reminds you of the bars Prague spawned in the early 1990s, before the gentrification of many bars in the new millennium. Music is playing the whole day. Come to soak up the atmosphere, and have a drink and a smoke with friends. Then, as the night moves on, make your way downstairs to one of two clubs below ground level, where you'll enjoy the psychedelic feel, the music gets louder and the dancing takes place. The drinks on offer throughout Chapeau Rouge include a dangerous mixture of Absinthe and Red Bull, as well as a selection of cocktails, basic wines and reasonably-priced Czech beer. The crowd tends to be a mix of ages and nationalities, which gives Chapeau Rouge a lively atmosphere both during the day and at night. |
