Folk tales and fairy tales play a strong role in the national psyche in the Czech Republic. This exhibition, aimed at adults and children, explores the influence of Czech fairy tales on music.

Municipal House
Blanka Matragi, Fashion Designer - Exhibition

This exhibition, held in the Gaming Parlours at Municipal House, celebrates the fashion designer Blanka Matragi's 30 years of work. Dresses and accessories are the core exhibits, supplemented by sculptures, glass, porcelain and graphic art.

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building explores the effects of light on life. Energy from sunlight has played a key role in the evolution and diversity of living organisms (although some species do survive without light, for example in deep caves). Cartoon characters guide children through the exhibition.

Noah’s Ark - Exhibition

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building reveals the remarkable beauty and diversity of animal species on Earth, and draws attention to modern dangers that put it at risk. Displays include animals that once roamed freely in the Czech lands, such as brown bears, elk and beavers, plus African animals, and extinct animals such as a full dinosaur skeleton.

This unique exhibition at the Prague City Museum tells the history of Prague from 1848 to the proclamation of the independence of Czechoslovakia in 1918.

The Celts - Exhibition
The Celts - Exhibition

This exhibition at the National Museum New Building explores the world of the Celts in Central Europe in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds have revealed the everyday life of the Celts, including their intricate craftsmanship and religious rituals. The National Museum holds one of the most extensive archaeological collections of Celtic artefacts in Europe.

World Cup 2018 - Where to watch in Prague

The World Cup 2018 may be held in Russia, but Prague is a good city to watch live coverage. Prague draws friendly fans from around the world, combining a city break with following their team in one of the city's sports bars - enjoy a drink and/or a bite to eat, and watch the action on projection screens and large TVs. Alternatively, watch the matches al fresco: huge screens are usually erected at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, showing a selection of games from all competing nations.

Bach For All is an international music festival devoted to the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach’s music, both major and lesser known works, is presented by renowned Baroque music performers. Musicians travel from around the Czech Republic and abroad to appear.

The Prague Proms annual music festival is a series of concerts organised by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Concerts are held in the stunning Smetana Hall, the main hall at Municipal House. Saints Cyril & Methodius Day - Public Holiday
Date: 05 July 2018
Public holiday. Saints Cyril and Methodius were Byzantine Greek brothers born in Thessalonica in the 9th century. They became missionaries of Christianity among the Slavic people, and through their work influenced the cultural development of all Slavs. The day commemorates the creation of the Slavic Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabets as well as the introduction of literacy and the preaching of the gospels in the Slavonic language.
Prague sightseeing & entertainment operate as normal. Shops have limited opening times.

Jan Hus Day - Public Holiday

Public holiday. Commemorates the burning at the stake of the religious thinker, church reformer and preacher Jan Hus in 1415. His statue takes pride of place in the Old Town Square.

French Market at Kampa Island
French Market at Kampa Island

'Good food, good mood and live music' - the annual French Market brings the joie de vivre to Prague. Market stalls offer a variety of French meats, sausages, cheese and wines to sample from across France. There is also music to entertain. The event takes place at Na Kampe, otherwise known as Kampa Island.
Travel: Crossing Charles Bridge from the Old Town to the Lesser Town, on the left-hand side steps lead down to the market.

Prague Folklore Days
Prague Folklore Days

The 12th annual international meeting of folk groups in Prague runs over four days on open air stages at the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square. Amateur folk groups travel from many countries to present their own style of folklore. On Saturday afternoon there is also a parade through the Old Town.

A lively summer market in the centre of Prague. Stalls stock traditional farmer's market food and drinks, and local handicrafts. There is also folk music to entertain.

Price: 1250czk. No need to book, tickets are available on the day.
The festival brings the spirit of Asia to Prague. Taste authentic cuisine from China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, and enjoy performances by Asian artists. Asian Fest also features miniature replicas of well-known sights, such as the Buddha statue from Phuket, the Beijing Imperial Palace, Shanghai’s Old Chinese Quarter and Ko Pha Ngan Beach in Thailand.

Travel: Transport is provided by boats running from Rasinovo nabrezi (Rasinovo embankment) to Branická louka.

Visit a Prague theatre for a typically Czech experience. Black light theatre is a mix of dynamic dance routines, mime artists, animated film, and state-of-the-art visual and sound effects.
