View restaurants recommended by Prague Experience: Prague restaurants. ---------------------------------------------- Piknik Park is an informal, authentic Italian restaurant set in beautiful parkland in the Lesser Town (Malá Strana), just two minutes walk from Charles Bridge. The restaurant is situated beside a gently flowing tributary of the Vltava River, surrounded by trees and plants. In this tranquil spot it is hard to believe some of Prague's main tourist areas are so close. The interior of the restaurant is a recently renovated historical building with a vaulted ceiling. Clever uplighting accentuates the arches, and the décor is a pleasant mix of wood and stone. An open kitchen and a large wine-rack add the finishing touches. The effect is clean, modern and welcoming. The cuisine at Piknik Park is fresh and tasty, based on traditional Italian family recipes. Ingredients are imported from Italy several times a week. The menu also caters to vegetarians and has gluten-free options. The kitchen is run by top local chefs Gian Piero Maschio, Vladimír Milfajt and Gianluca Fabris. They offer a fine selection of homemade pasta, risottos, fresh sea and river fish, and various meat dishes. Not forgetting one of their specialities, the Pinsa Romana, an ancient Roman ancestor of pizza - they say it's much better than a modern pizza!
Starters include tasty bruschetta, beer carpaccio, melon and prosciutto, and fresh cuttlefish salad.
For dessert, try the delightful tiramisu or panna cotta with hot berry sauce. The wine rack features a selection of quality Czech and international wines. There are also beers, spirits and cocktails to choose from. All drinks are reasonably priced. In fact it is a nice restaurant to try out a few different Czech wines by the glass. If you prefer to dine outside, Piknik Park has a relaxing year-round heated terrace alongside the stream (called Čertovka or 'Little Prague Venice'). Live acoustic music performed by international musicians complements the laid-back atmosphere of the restaurant four times per week. Piknik Park is fairly new, but has already gained quite a reputation for the fresh food and good choice of wines it offers. It is the only Italian restaurant of its kind in the area, and anyone would be happy dining here.
Piknik Park is suitable for couples and groups, for private and corporate bookings. Tip: Book your table through Prague Experience and get a free welcome drink:
