Prague Castle By Night & Alchemy Tour

This fun and enlightening walking tour focuses on the Prague Castle complex, but also encompasses the facts, myths and legends of the entire city. It's a journey filled with exploration and discovery.

The tour starts near the Old Town Square, from where our guide leads us through the cobbled streets of the Old Town. We then cross the Vltava River into the picturesque Lesser Town, and ride a tram up to Prague Castle (tram ticket is included).

Prague Castle illuminated at night is a majestic sight. Set high on the hillside, it dominates the city's skyline.

With the tourists gone for the day, the castle takes on a romantic, eery, and undeniably magical atmosphere.

Following in the footsteps of kings and emperors, we seek out the castle's hidden secrets, walking through the grand squares to view the palaces, churches and ancient monuments, and through Golden Lane, where generations of artisans have worked from the middle ages.

We hear stories from the reigns of King Wenceslas and Emperor Charles IV. And learn how, in the reign of Emperor Rudolf II, scientists and magicians were drawn to Prague from around Europe to practise astronomy, alchemy and magic.

The tour also covers the historical buildings that surround Prague Castle, such as Strahov Monastery, Černin Palace, Loreta, Nový Svět (New World), Domeček (secret police and Gestapo prison), St Wenceslas’ Vineyard and Wallenstein Palace.

Finally, from Prague Castle participants can enjoy panoramic views over the city: summer sunsets can be glorious, while in winter the city dances with lights.
