The famous Triton Restaurant on Wenceslas Square in Prague opened in 1912. It is a beautiful cellar restaurant built to resemble a stalactite cave.

The unique ambience of Triton, coupled with the fine dining experience it provides, makes it one of Prague's premičre Art Nouveau restaurants (Municipal House Restaurant is another).

The walls of the restaurant are adorned with statues and sculptures from Greek mythology, recounting the story of Eurydice and her husband Orpheus.

A tropical fish tank adds colour. And intelligent lighting completes the scene, bouncing off the stalactites and cave-like walls to conjure up a magical, mystical atmosphere.

Triton's menu is a thoughtful blend of International and Czech cuisine, offering a choice of food which will surely tempt even the most particular of guest.

Dishes feature various meats and fresh fish, and include the delicious local speciality Svíčková (slow roasted veal fillet steak, cream sauce, Carlsbad dumplings, cranberries and lemon). All meals are expertly prepared and presented.

Triton's signature degustation and gourmet menus are popular, each featuring a perfectly balanced mix of courses. This offers diners the opportunity to sample a selection of the chef's finest works. There is optional wine pairing too.

The wine list has a good selection of Czech and International wines at various prices.

Triton is a reasonably intimate restaurant and ideal for a romantic occasion. But it also makes an interesting choice for groups of friends or families, and even business dinners.

If you are looking for pre-theatre dining, Triton combines well with a trip to the Prague State Opera or Estates Theatre, both of which are only 5-10 minutes walk away.
