The famous Triton Restaurant located on Wenceslas Square in Prague opened in 1912. It is a beautiful cellar restaurant built to resemble a stalactite cave.

The unique ambience of Triton, coupled with the fine dining experience it provides, makes it one of Prague's première Art Nouveau restaurants (Francouzska Restaurant at Municipal House is another).

Set amongst the stalactites, the walls are adorned with statues and sculptures from Greek mythology, recounting the story of Eurydice and her husband Orpheus. While a tropical fish tank adds colour.

Intelligent lighting completes the scene, bouncing off the cave like walls to create a magical, mystical atmosphere.

The menu at Triton is a mix of international cuisine and traditional Czech fare. Meals include succulent steaks, roast duck, fresh fish and pasta dishes, all expertly prepared and presented.

There are also degustation/gourmet menus, comprising several courses with optional wine pairing. These are a treat, allowing diners the opportunity to sample a selection of the chef's finest dishes.

The wine list offers a good selection of Czech and international wines, at all price levels.

Triton is a reasonably small, intimate restaurant. It is ideal for a romantic occasion, but works equally well as a venue for business dinners or for groups of friends.

Triton also combines well with a trip to the Prague State Opera or Estates Theatre, both of which are only 5-10 minutes walk away.
