Of all our Prague tours, the Prague Grand City Sightseeing Tour is the most popular. It offers a superb introduction to this city of rich, opulent beauty with an epic history. This sightseeing tour is part by air-conditioned coach, part on foot (some of the city's finest areas are only accessible on foot). After picking you up from your Prague hotel, we embark on a fascinating journey through time to learn of the people who have shaped the city, and to discover the places they built over the past one thousand years - Prague has over 4,000 monuments. We begin the tour on the coach, introducing the major historical areas of Prague: the enchanting Old Town, the New Town with Wenceslas Square at its heart, and the picturesque Lesser Town. Next, we drive up to the castle for a highlight of the trip: a 75 minute guided walk through the Prague Castle complex, which includes a visit inside its grandest monument, Saint Vitus Cathedral.
Tip: one advantage of taking a tour is that the guide will lead you through the shortest security queue into the castle. As we stroll through the complex, your guide will bring the magnificent castle buildings to life, explaining their turbulent history, and their royal and presidential connections. We admire the ancient architecture, the fortifications and towers, the historic churches and other national treasures. Finally, take in stunning views over the whole of Prague. From Prague Castle, we walk down to the Vltava River via a flight of steps (there are a number of steps, but they are wide and deep so are relatively easy to walk down). Next, we take a boat trip through the city centre. This provides an opportunity to relax and take refreshments. The bar on board serves a range of beers, wines, sparkling wines, spirits, hot and cold soft drinks, and snacks. The interior of the boat is air-conditioned in summer, heated in winter, and has outdoor seating too, so the trip is comfortable all year round. We sail under Charles Bridge and enjoy close up views of the riverside attractions. Back on dry land, the tour continues on through the historical centre with a visit to the Old Town and Jewish Quarter. Prague Experience sightseeing tours are in English and another language. They are led by professional licensed tourist guides and use modern, air-conditioned mini-coaches. If you require a tour in German, please state it on the booking form. The trip finishes at the Old Town Square. Highly recommended. Tip: the boat trip sails through the heart of Prague only, whereas our dinner and lunch cruises travel further and include a full meal and live music. Therefore, if you wish to book this tour and also a dinner river cruise for one evening, you will enjoy both as they offer different experiences. |
