----------------------------------------------

Join us for an in-depth visit to the Prague Castle complex. The tour includes admission to and a guided walking tour around the major buildings within the castle: St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and Golden Lane.

This sightseeing tour is part by air-conditioned bus, but mostly on foot (Prague Castle is pedestrianised).

After picking you up from your Prague hotel, we drive up to the castle to begin our tour. Our guide will take care of the tickets.

Prague Castle is the city's No1 tourist attraction and the largest ancient castle complex in the world. It is set in a commanding position overlooking the city, from where the Kings of Bohemia once ruled.

The castle is an intriguing mix of squares, buildings and fortifications, including palaces, state apartments, great halls, churches, a monastery, viewing towers, and museums and art galleries.

Our guide brings the castle to life by explaining the turbulent history surrounding the various buildings, and their royal and presidential connections.

We discover where the coronation of Kings and Queens took place at St. Vitus Cathedral; we admire the grand architecture inside the Old Royal Palace; and we explore St. George's Basilica, founded in 920 AD, the best-preserved Romanesque church in Prague.

Plus we tour Golden Lane (Zlatá ulička). Dating from the 15th century, skilled artisans lived and worked here, creating goods for the inhabitants of Prague Castle. Golden Lane is also famous as a place where the mystical art of alchemy was practised!

Finally, as it is set high up on a hill, Prague Castle affords visitors magnificent views over the whole city.

To finish the tour, we exit the castle and walk down towards the Vltava River via some ancient stone steps. As we descend, there are wonderful views over the river, and looking back, we can admire the shear size and magnificence of Prague Castle.

Prague Experience sightseeing tours are in English and another language. They are led by professional, licensed tourist guides and use modern, air-conditioned buses.

If you require a tour in French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish, state it in Special Requests on the booking form.

The tour finishes at Malostranska metro station (line A) in the Lesser Town, by the river. A short stroll across the bridge returns you to the Old Town.
