Vytopna Restaurant on Wenceslas Square in Prague is a first-class steakhouse, serving high quality food and drinks at reasonable prices.

But its unique attraction is a 900 metre miniature railway which runs around the entire restaurant, and even down the centre of the tables you sit at.

This is no gimmick, the technology employed is complex. The restaurant's owners are passionate about traditional railways and have developed miniature train networks for years.

The trains reach speeds of 20km per hour, and deliver your food and drinks direct to your table in their wagons!

The railway tracks they travel on pass through tunnels, over drawbridges, through sculptured rock formations and woods, and by ponds. The trains even pull into stations.

Vytopna is located on the first floor of a building on Wenceslas Square, and has huge windows through which guests can enjoy fine views over the square.

The menu focuses on easy dining International food prepared with local ingredients, and with the finest beef a definite speciality.

Vytopna sources its meat from local organic and small farms, then rests it in a cold dry aging room for 40-90 days. This ensures that when cooked, the beef is flavoursome, juicy and tender. Steaks range from rib-eye to sirloin to rump. Even the burger selection is quite mouth-watering.

Other dishes on offer include slow roasted pork, turkey, goulash, fresh fish, salads, and hot sandwiches filled with pulled beef, coleslaw, glazed red onions and salad.

There are also daily grill specials depending on which meats have been brought out of the aging rooms that morning.

The children's menu should suit most kids. It features organic beefburgers, pulled turkey, and chicken strips with fries. However, kids may find the burgers on the main menu too enticing to ignore.

For many Czechs, an excellent steak should be accompanied by a decent Czech beer, not red wine. Here, once again, Vytopna does not let us down.

There is stunningly fresh and foamy Krušovice tank beer, which is sold by only a select number of pubs and restaurants in Prague. The beer is delivered from the brewery unpasteurised in huge temperature controlled airtight tanks.

Vytopna also serve a draft beer which they brew to their own recipe in both light and dark forms. Finding the perfect combination of beer and steak should be easy!

If you are adamant you want a glass of wine, Vytopna has some nice Czech bottles from Moravia. Other drinks include spirits, cocktails, Bohemia Sekt 'Czech Champagne' and soft drinks. All are reasonably priced for the downtown location.

All-adult parties and couples should not be put off eating at Vytopna. Indeed they make up most of the clientele. The railway is fascinating for all ages, train enthusiasts or not, and both sexes.

Vytopna serves some of the best steaks in Prague, and a train delivering your ice-cold beer cannot be beaten! It is not for a romantic meal, and it is certainly not for elegant dining in fine attire. It is simply a fun, unique experience for groups of friends, families, couples and big kids of all ages!

Vytopna is well-known throughout Czechia. Many Czechs choose to dine here when visiting Prague, so it is busy all day long. We strongly advise making a reservation. If you turn up on a whim, you will likely face a long queue or even be turned away.

TIP: Book through Prague Experience to be assured of a table, and to go straight to the head of the queue with skip-the-line entry.
